OneGate Media acquires Generation Now: Today for Tomorrow

OneGate Media has secured world distribution rights for the progressive drama series, Generation Now: Today for Tomorrow (6×45’) from VIAFILM. Bolstering OneGate Media’s growing and diverse premium scripted slate, the series features a stellar cast, including Franziska Weisz (The Swarm, Hotel, Janus, Days, that never were).
Generation Now: Today for Tomorrow is a production by VIAFILM for MDR, ARD Degeto and NDR. The series is funded by FFF-Bayern and nordmedia.
Created by Christian Schiller, Marianne Wendt, (Neumatt, Eden) and directed by Charlotte Rolfes (Tatort, Only Lovers Left Alive, Samira), this six-part drama takes a modern stance on environmentalism and the ongoing conflict between different generations. Set in the city of Halle in 2023, tensions rise as activist groups and police clash on the market square, escalating to rioting, looting and violence.
The lives of teenagers Jana and Vanessa are forever changed when they find themselves at the centre of this political uproar. Grappling with their own family relationships and worldviews, as well as their determination to fight for a better world, the groups must decide how far they’re willing to go for their own future and what kind of world they want to live in
This poignant series takes on some of today’s most central environmental issues and demonstrates the tension between the varying perspectives of different generations and opposing political groups. The series is part of OneGate Media’s growing slate of productions across a variety of genres, focusing on high production value for broad, global audiences.
