Bharti Airtel’s 5G service now covers all of India and claims a 50 million subscriber base. The 5G service launched just a year ago. Bharti is also a major shareholder in Eutelsat and is promising introduction of OneWeb satellite connectivity will launch this year.

Commenting on the milestone, Randeep Sekhon, CTO at Bharti Airtel, said: “We are thrilled at the speed of adoption to 5G by millions of our customers and we are reaching this milestone earlier than planned. This marks a big expansion of Airtel’s 5G coverage going from 1 million in October of 2022 to 50 million in just 12 months of the launch. The expansion continues at full speed and I am sure, we will continue to rapidly multiply as we work towards nationwide coverage and enable all our customers to enter the 5G age.”

The telco says its 5G network is now accessible in more than 5000 cities and towns throughout India. The company has achieved a significant milestone, surpassing 10 million unique customers on its national 5G network.

In addition, Airtel has introduced unlimited 5G data for its customers, aiming to motivate them to embrace the advancements of next-generation networks.

“Customers will now be able to experience ultrafast, reliable and secure 5G Plus services without having to worry about data exhaustion as Airtel removes the capping on data usage across all existing plans,” said Airtel.
