June 22, 2012

Mark Thompson, the outgoing director-general of the BBC, is said to have held talks with the New York Times Company with a view to becoming the US publisher’s next CEO.

Thompson is due to step down from the BBC after the Olympic and Paralympic Games end in London this summer.

The job of chief executive of the New York Times, controlled by the Ochs-Sulzberger family has been vacant since Janet Robertson was ousted in December last year
