Alticast, a specialist in interactive TV open standard software solutions, hastoday announced that it will provide cloud-based PVR solutions for KT SkyLife, Korea’s number one satellite broadcaster. The Alticast powered cloud PVR service is planned to launch in the second half of 2013 and will be a first for the Korean market.
KT SkyLife is a digital satellite & IPTV hybrid service that launched in March 2002 and has grown to 3.86 million subscribers.
“The increase in the availability and functionality of cloud-based infrastructure and solutions means that network PVR is now ready for prime time,” said Thomas Jung, CMO of Alticast. “The network PVR UCloud service that we are enabling for KT SkyLife will be a first for the Korean market. This and other future developments will ensure that KT SkyLife continues to meet Korean consumers’ demand for exiting new TV experiences.”
