Sky Sports expands rugby, tennis content deals

May 2, 2013

Tennis-SharapovaSky Sports will show even more live European club rugby union, thanks to a new four year deal to screen the RaboDirect PRO12 beginning with the 2014/15 season.

For the first time Sky Sports will show 30 live matches, plus the semi-finals and final from the tournament, strengthening its rights portfolio across six channels.

The RaboDirect PRO12 features the top teams from Ireland, Wales, Scotland and Italy, including Europe’s current number one ranked side Leinster, defending champions Ospreys and current leaders, Ulster. Sky Sports viewers will be able to enjoy weekly coverage on TV, PC and on the move via mobile and tablet devices.

Sky Sports has also revealed big tennis deals. Agreements with the USTA and ATP mean Sky Sports will now show more live tennis than any other broadcaster, including Andy Murray’s US Open grand slam defence at Flushing Meadows in August.

Under the new deals, Sky Sports viewers can enjoy regular coverage of the biggest names in men’s tennis, including Murray, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.  The agreement includes coverage of women’s matches from the US Open too, enabling fans to follow Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova and Victoria Azarenka plus British challenges from Laura Robson and Heather Watson.
