MobiTV to power Japan’s TV Bank

November 18, 2014

MobiTV, a global player in enabling delivery of live and on-demand TV everywhere, and TV Bank, a live video distribution system and video provider for connected devices in Japan, have announced a partnership to leverage MobiTV’s software-based platform and NetDVR (nDVR) technology to extend TV services across screens. The service, launching this fall, will enable a robust entertainment experience on connected devices, including smartphones, tablets and PC browsers anytime, anywhere.

“The trends driving change in the way consumers discover, access and watch content are rapidly occurring on a global scale,” said Charlie Nooney, CEO and Chairman of MobiTV. “We are thrilled to be partnered with a major Japanese provider like TV Bank to make a big splash in the market with terrific content choices for consumers.”

TV Bank, owned by SoftBank, is one of the largest online video providers in Japan. MobiTV’s end-to-end, cloud-based multiscreen platform will bring approximately 30 live channels of TV Bank’s BBTV Next service to smartphones, tablets and PCs by leveraging TV Bank’s existing infrastructure. Additionally, MobiTV’s nDVR functionality will allow for recorded, live and catch-up TV across screens.
