After an extensive review of all available technologies for live contribution over unmanaged public Internet links, Dutch company Media Choice has selected Motama’s RelayCaster product line for building a service for local broadcasters. The service available at regionaalmediacenter.nl allows ambitious regional broadcasters to bring their live signal to a central data center. This data center acts as ‘media-hub’ allowing the TV content to be made available to large telecommunication providers, ISPs and other operators to add new channels to their IPTV and Internet/OTT offering.
To enable a cost-effective solution, all contribution and distribution is done over inexpensive consumer-level public Internet links, such as DSL. To enable reliable and secure transmission of the live stream, Motama’s RelayCaster technology is used to built a fully redundant service with independent data centers. Regional broadcasters subscribing to the service can choose an all-inclusive package from Media Choice, handling the complete contribution pipeline for a monthly fee.
After successful operation of the service for more than one year, and around 80 local broadcasters being served, Media Choice now plans to extend the service with additional capacity over 100.
‘We are very satisfied with the products and the support of Motama. Therefore, it was an easy decision for us to select Motama again for the second phase,’ says Ferry Ouwendijk, CEO of Media Choice.
‘We are very proud to win the selection process of Media Choice again. To our best knowledge, the service built upon RelayCaster really is the largest TV contribution network in Europe built entirely upon the public Internet,’ says Marco Lohse, CEO of Motama.
