Eurosport, CA Technologies team for cycling app

May 12, 2017

Eurosport has partnered with software and solutions provider CA Technologies in a cross-platform sponsorship and integrated technology collaboration.   Central to the partnership is the creation a second-screen app experience for cycling fans which launches during Eurosport’s ongoing coverage of the Giro d’Italia.

Using CA API Management and CA App Experience Analytics tools, for the first time Eurosport will be offering a live interactive map with rider data throughout this year’s Giro d’Italia and other key races throughout the season. The new tools will be built into Eurosport’s existing app and mobile web products to allow fans to track the peloton every pedal of the race as well as providing select individual rider GPS and biometric data, such as their altitude, speed, power, cadence and heart rate, in real-time. Eurosport will also use the new tools as part of its on-air graphics to enhance its live TV coverage, giving viewers and experts a deeper analysis than ever before.

Peter Hutton, CEO Eurosport, said: “We are always looking at ways to enhance and complement our coverage of the world greatest sporting events and this partnership and app development ensures we are doing that for cycling’s premium races this year. We know that passionate sports fans love to have all the stats and data at their fingertips and this partnership with CA Technologies, alongside our TV coverage, will enable our cycling fans to access everything they need. This is the next step in our digital transformation and the systems provided by CA Technologies allow us to take cycling fans closer to the peloton than ever before. We will enable viewers to put themselves at the centre of the action, giving them a better understanding of the race, the riders and the stories on the road as they unfold.”
