Radio chiefs demand digital switch date
October 30, 2007
UK Radio chiefs have given warning that the Government's failure to settle on a date to switch off analogue radio is “crippling the industry”. They claim that carmakers will not take digital radio seriously and that investment in digital by radio groups will come to a halt unless a clear plan is drawn up.
Andrew Harrison, CEO of the RadioCentre, the commercial radio body, has recommended that a working party representing the Department for Culture Media and Sport, Ofcom, the BBC and commercial radio groups be set up by mid 2008 to discuss the issue.
