Chellomedia, the content division of Liberty Global, has announced the reorganisation of its thematic channel portfolio and operations in Central Europe. As from April 2009, Chello Central Europe will perform the operations of three channels of its sister unit Chello Zone – Zone Romantica (for Poland, Hungary, Romania), Zone Europa, and Zone Club (for Poland and Hungary) – in the Central European region. This sees the regionally based Central European portfolio grow to 11 channels.

Chellomedia recently acquired a series of channels in the Central European region, with Spektrum (September 2008) being the most recent acquisition; this was Chellomedia's fifth deal in the region in the last 15 months, including the consolidation of Minimax and the acquisitions of Filmmuzeum, TV Paprika and TV Deko. Chello Central Europe has also launched its own production entity, Mojo Productions.

Chellomedia continues to anticipate considerable growth in multichannel pay television in Central and Eastern Europe. The merged portfolio which already includes children's, movies, sports, documentaries and lifestyle thematic channels allows the group to benefit from synergies in sales, programming and distribution across the region.
