Agama integrates in-home monitoring solution with Celeno’s video-grade Wi-Fi technology
September 1, 2011
Agama Technologies, the DTV quality assurance expert, and Celeno Communications, a provider of semiconductors and software for video-grade Wi-Fi home networking, have announced the integration of Agama’s Embedded Monitoring Solution with Celeno’s Wi-Fi technology.
This integration provides Agama’s customers with expanded real-time service monitoring capabilities for home networks. It will enable digital TV operators to assure quality in all parts of the home video distribution network, including wireless communication between an in-home gateway and a set-top box (STB), or between a master STB or personal video recorder (PVR) and slave STBs. With these new capabilities, operators can get increased control and understanding of the distributed service quality within the wireless home, leading to further enhanced end-user experience, streamlined customer care and faster problem resolution.
“Digital TV service providers are moving beyond standard video offerings, providing consumers with highly integrated and portable on-demand viewing experiences. Ensuring customers’ satisfaction with proactive network monitoring and fault isolation is becoming a priority for them,” says Lior Weiss, VP Marketing of Celeno. “We are pleased to work with companies such as Agama to help our service provider customers to assure the service quality of the wireless video distribution in all parts of the home.”
“The integration with technologies such as Celeno’s confirms our commitment to continuously meeting our customers’ needs by ensuring that they have more insight and control over the quality of their media distribution,” says Johan Görsjö, Director of Product Management at Agama Technologies. “The market shows a clear trend that operators are offering more and more complex home services, and it is natural for us to extend our end-to-end solution in this direction.”
The Agama Embedded Monitoring Solution is the final link in monitoring service quality in the video delivery chain, collecting information from lean and efficient software probes on each connected in-home device using a multitude of protocols. Real-time monitoring of Quality of Experience (QoE), Quality of Service (QoS), service usage, and system parameters on all devices brings a new level of insight to quality-aware operators, who can quickly identify and troubleshoot last-mile problems and delineate problems affecting specific users from regional or system-wide problems.
Celeno’s 802.11n WiFi solutions, powered by its OptimizAIR technology, enables home gateways, multi-room DVRs and media servers to distribute wirelessly multiple and simultaneous HD video streams to standard STBs, PCs, television sets and other Wi-Fi enabled consumer devices.
Attendees of IBC2011 in Amsterdam can see product demonstrations at the Celeno Stand (Hall 3, Stand A15F) and at the Agama Stand (Hall 4, Stand A55).
