The device is the first Hybrid Broadcast Broadband TV (HbbTV) deployment based on the Sigma SoC. The advanced, cost-effective solution is targeted at the HbbTV and hybrid DVB-T/IP markets.
Powered by Sigma Designs SMP 8670 chipset, consumers purchasing HbbTV devices will have access to new services from entertainment providers such as catch-up TV, VoD, interactive advertising, personalisation, voting, games and social networking, among many other features.
Spain-based Televes is the first set-top-box manufacturer to use the combination of Sigma’s SoC and the HbbTV turn-key solution. The initial deployment is targeted to the growing hybrid market in Europe. With Httv’s expansion plans for Russia and Asia, all three companies are well positioned to take full advantage of new market opportunities.
