Eutelsat, via its USA subsidiary, has gained a licence to operate over Australia. Eutelsat already has a number of satellites on order, and has steadily extended its operational footprint Eastwards.
A new satellite, on order, is Eutelsat 70B, and this giant craft has the ability to cover most of Africa, the Middle East, parts of Asia – and Australia. 70B launches towards the end of this year, and more than double the capacity currently operated over the region by Eutelsat.
