India’s Dish TV ups ARPU
July 29, 2013
Dish TV, India’s largest DTH operator, raised its ARPU 5.1 per cent last year. The price rise takes average subscription rates to Rs 165 a month ($2.79). The broadcaster added 200,000 net new subscribers in the quarter to June 30th. Dish TV also added 5 new HD channels, taking the total to 25 channels.
Subhash Chandra, chairman at Dish TV India, said the company’s focus on quality additions is a counter-intuitive move, which has started delivering encouraging results. “The first quarter saw the company deliver strong free cash flows while maintaining healthy customer retention and investing in brand equity.”
