Third time lucky for SpaceX?
December 3, 2013
SpaceX will make its third attempt to launch the SES-8 satellite during the evening of December 3rd. SpaceX says it has fully inspected the rocket’s engines and all “known rocket anomalies resolved,” according to SpaceX’s founder and CEO Elon Musk in a Twitter message.
However, SpaceX has swapped out a gas generator that powered one of the rocket’s 9 engines “as a precautionary measure,” said Musk.
SpaceX aborted its last attempt on Thanksgiving Day when a lower-than-expected pressure was achieved on one of the Merlin engines of the Falcon-9 rocket.
SpaceX is saying that if for any reason the launch has again to be scrubbed it will make another attempt on December 4th.
