Bloomberg, OneTwoSee partner on sports apps

January 9, 2014

mlb-baseballBloomberg Sports, the US specialist in sports analytics, has formed an expanded partnership with multiplatform fan engagement innovator OneTwoSee. The companies will work together to develop real-time apps for Smart TVs that expand and enhance the broadcast viewing experience for sports audiences and fans.

Bloomberg Sports and OneTwoSee aim to leverage the interactivity of connected TVs with traditional broadcast video to bring sports fans an experience that marries the best of ‘lean-back’ television viewing and ‘lean-forward’ Internet consumption.

The Bloomberg-OneTwoSee partnership has focused on creating new display formats that render highly engaging data and graphics alongside a traditional sports broadcast. The application can be displayed to the side and / or bottom of the broadcast video with interactive and complementary content that develops in real time during the course of a game. These elements bring game day statistics and sports analysis together to create a seamless user experience.

Speaking on the partnership, Chris Reynolds, CEO of OneTwoSee stated, “We’re incredibly excited to partner with a world-class organization like Bloomberg Sports and showcase our premiere integration at CES with LG. OneTwoSee is committed to bringing exceptionally novel and interactive experiences to sports fans across screens. This partnership sets a new precedent for the future of Smart TV and will create new levels of depth and enjoyment to the sports viewing experience.”

A demonstration of the app at CES 2014 highlighted the ability for Smart TV users to view live baseball action while interacting with on-screen graphics, including elements linked to real-time player stats, pitching and hitting probabilities, on-base percentages and other advanced analytics.
