Playcast expands video games with NetRange

August 19, 2014

Playcast Media, the cloud gaming service, has entered into a partnership with NetRange, the white-labeled Smart TV and OTT ecosystem provider behind dozens of global brands including Sharp, TCL, Chang Hong,  JVC, Pioneer and Loewe. Under the terms of this agreement, Playcast’s cloud based, AAA video game streaming service will be made available seamlessly via the NetRange operated Smart TV app market, pre-installed on Smart TVs around the world, and featured on its portal UI.

Playcast cloud gaming service features console quality video games from the world’s major game publishers, offered for an affordable subscription and on demand. First devices are scheduled to go on air globally for the holiday season this year. Using Playcast’s patented game porting technology, all titles can be played using console gamepads that are connected to TVs or Set-Top-Boxes wirelessly or via USB.

“Playcast is set to expand to dozens of devices, which will put us on more platforms that any other cloud gaming solution in the world,” said Guy de Beer, Playcast CEO. “We are looking forward to serve games to the millions of users on the various NetRange platforms.”

“We are powering the front end and back end for tens of TV brands, and found that what engages users the most is quality content, and with Playcast, an immersive console experience is made available through a wide variety of platforms,” said NetRange CEO, Jan Wendt. “We foresee AAA video games to become as ubiquitous as some of the other apps we support, such as VoD Services, sports and news content. Playcast will be an integral part of our future Smart TV strategy.”
