Plusnet multi-year sponsorship deal with Jordan King
July 10, 2015
Following last weekend’s British GP at Silverstone, Yorkshire-based broadband and telephone provider Plusnet has announced a multi-year sponsorship deal with GP2 and Manor F1 Development Driver Jordan King.
King, who served his apprenticeship in national, European and World Championship karting, won the prestigious British Formula 3 Championship in 2013 before making his GP2 debut this year, starting with an impressive fourth place finish in Bahrain.
The 21-year-old’s speed, work ethic and determination were also rewarded this year with a Development Driver role with the British Manor F1 team and last weekend King caught the eye at the British GP, with overtaking that saw him claim 12 places at Silverstone on Sunday.
As part of the sponsorship the Plusnet logo will feature on King’s car as the British challenger chases his boyhood dream of joining the Formula 1 elite over the coming years.
Andy Baker, Plusnet CEO, said: “We love supporting up-and-coming talent, both as the champion of small businesses, and as an employer. Jordan’s an exceptional talent who’s following his dreams and determined to make a difference in his world. Here at Plusnet we know how that feels. So we’re very proud to be supporting him and we’re sure he’ll do us proud.”
Jordan King said: “I’m really excited to be racing GP2 this year which is one step closer to fulfilling my ambition of racing in Formula 1. I’m delighted to welcome Plusnet on board. They’re a British company who challenge the major players in their respective field, which is exactly what I am determined to do in the coming years.”
Jordan King will compete next at the Budapest Grand Prix on July 24th– 26th.
