The Spanish telco Telefónica has created Telxius, a new global company which brings together its fibre optic and aerials network aimed at providing services to other operators.

The move forms part of a new Telefónica ‘s strategy to manage its asset portfolio and open new business opportunities in the industry. Telxius will manage around 15,000 Telefónica telco towers in Spain and other countries, as well as the Telefónica Group´s international network of 31,000km of submarine fibre optic cable, including SAM-1, a submarine cable that connects the US with Central and South America.
