Canal+ extends Top 14 Rugby deal

May 13, 2016

Already broadcast rights partner of France’s Top 14 rugby union championship until 2019, Canal + has confirmed it has won the most recent tender, extending its coverage on to 2023. According to the broadcaster, the popularity of rugby in France has been increasing in recent years driven by strong values. Rugby is now the second most popular sport in France.

Canal+ says the Top 14 is an important addition to what is already the widest rugby offer on TV complete with the expertise and recognised know-how of the editorial sports team at the broadcaster. Canal+ Group owns the rights to the ProD2, Super Rugby Rugby Championship and France’s Test matches in the Southern Hemisphere.
