Netflix gets Lost In Space
July 1, 2016
Netflix is set to host a remake of the 1960s sci-fi TV show Lost In Space after ordering a 10-episode series.
“The original series so deftly captured both drama and comedy, and that made it very appealing to a broad audience,” Netflix vice president Cindy Holland told Variety. “The current creative team’s reimagining of the series for Netflix is sure to appeal to both fans who fondly remember the original and to create a new generation of enthusiasts around the world.”
The remake will see Prison Break alumnus Zack Estrinserve as showrunner with the series being written by Dracula Untold screenwriters Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless.
Lost In Space originated as a TV series on CBS and first aired between 1965 and 1968. The franchise also spawned a flop movie in 1998.
The new series has yet to been given a release date.
