Discovery Italia’s free OTT service has set a new record, surpassing 2 million unique users in November.

This figure represents a 25 per cent growth compared to the same month last year and up 40 per cent compared to October 2016.

Launched last year, Dplay enables viewers to watch content anywhere, anytime and on any device, including in HD, both online and via a dedicated iOS and Android application. The service includes programming aired by Discovery Italia’s seven free-to-air channels Real Time, Dmax, Nove, Giallo, Focus, K2 and Frisbee.

During the festive season, the media group has launched a channel devoted entirely to Christmas that will be on air until January 6th. Content that will be aired includes Christmas cooking tips and tutorials for ornaments and decorations.

Meanwhile, Italian daily Milano Finanza has reported that Discovery Italia is considering the possibility of launching a free-to-air sports channel on the national DTT network.
