Disney launching Spanish SVoD in France; Molotov deal

Disney has launched its SVoD service on France’s Canalsat pay-TV platform.

Disney France will also launch a Spanish-language SVoD service at the end of February. Dedicated to teaching Spanish for children, Hola Disney will show 26 x 26 original productions based on South-American TV series Soy Luna. Exclusive to France, the service will be available through Canal+’s SVoD hub. Disney France also operates SVoD Pop Pick Play service that is carried on Orange and SFR.

Disney France, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, has also concluded a deal with OTT platform Molotov for an event on-demand offer. Launching on February 3rd , the service will show more than 300 events and close on March 31st.

Away from TV, Disney France has also reported a thriving social media presence with 1.6 million fans on Facebook and 63 million videos viewed on YouTube. Its Disney.fr website ranks as the top youth media platform.

The group that runs Disney Channel, Disney Junior, Disney XD and Disney Cinema says it invests € 6 million per year in local production and has 20 original production projects, 15 are French, five are multilingual.
