Vodafone Spain launches esports channel

Moving with the esports tide in the Spanish TV market, Vodafone Spain has launched a dedicated channel on Twitch, the Amazon-owned streaming platform.
The Esports Vodafone channel daily broadcasts from 15:00 to 23:00 featuring gaming news, entertainment and educational programming. Esports Vodafone will also air Esports Academy, with tutorials and advice from esports professionals. Other programmed includes A.M.A (Ask Me Anything) where members of the public can fire questions at leading esports figures; Domingamers, with four challengers competing in different games, and a talk-show-type magazine show yet to be named.
With this launch, Vodafone enters into a fierce market competing directly with its rivals Telefónica and Orange who aready offer similar services.
Orange recently reached an agreement with esports league LVP (Liga de Videojuegos Profesional) to change the name of Spain’s top-tier division to Superliga Orange. Meanwhile, Telefónica recently launched its own dedicated channel called Movistar eSports covering matches from leagues such as ESL One, ESL Intel Extreme and ESL Masters Series.
