August 25, 2017
Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) is set to launch an SVoD service in the Nordics that will offer the first pay TV window to sibling Paramount Pictures’ new movies plus shows from its networks.
The service, branded Paramount+, will also offer over 800 episodes of popular TV content from Viacom-owned networks, including South Park, Teen Mom and Inside Amy Schumer when it launches in Denmark, Sweden and Norway on October 1st. A library of classic movies will also be available, featuring titles such as The Godfather trilogy. Recent box-office movies such as Baywatch, Ghost in the Shell and Transformers: The Last Knight will also be added to Paramount+ in the coming months.
Subscribers will be able to watch Paramount movies including Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, Allied, Fences and Monster Trucks. On-demand access to episodes of popular MTV and Comedy Central shows including Inside Amy Schumer, Geordie Shore, Broad City, Teen Mom and South Park will also be available.
Andrea Sahlgren, senior VP and general manager for VIMN Nordics, said: “Paramount+ is a groundbreaking concept for us and an important extension of our pay TV offer to our linear distribution partners. It’s the first time we’re aggregating first-run movie rights with our TV content under the Paramount brand for SVoD access, available for our pay TV operators only. It’s the perfect complement to our existing linear TV and VoD offerings and will meet unrivalled demand from viewers in all the Nordic countries to be able to watch their favourite TV shows and movies when, where and on whatever device they want.”
