Spain: Pay-TV and VoD up, FTA down in summer

The consumption of pay-TV and VoD significantly grows in summertime versus the fall of FTA TV channels.

A report from consultancy firm Barlovento Comunicacion reveals that in August, the consumption of FTA falls by 53 minutes to 173 minutes per day, whereas pay-TV and VoD consumption improves significantly.

In August, 26 million of people daily watch TV (down 23 per cent) versus 32 million on average the rest of the year, with January and February as the months with the highest TV consumption in the year.

Men and under 45 years old are the segment of viewers who watch more TV in summertime, above all in Andalucia, up 1 per cent in August, versus Madrid, down 1.6 per cent.

TV advertising also falls in August to an average of €121 million, 6 per cent of the annual total investment.
