Prime Focus Technologies (PFT), the technology arm of Prime Focus, has developed and produced the innovative multi-part unique series, Mega Icons, for National Geographic India. Conceptualized by National Geographic, the series journeys into the lives of successful iconic personalities, with the help of intimate interviews, powerful cinematic recreations, rare archival footage, as well as thorough scientific research and analysis by subject matter experts across the globe.
Hosted by renowned actor R. Madhavan, Mega Icons delves into the key events and incidents that have shaped the lives of global icons like Virat Kohli, Kamal Haasan, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Dr. Kiran Bedi and His Holiness, the Dalai Lama. Filming locations include the sandy shores of Rameswaram, the pristine Thiksey Monastery in Leh, and the bylanes of Delhi.
“As a series, Mega Icons is a perfect collaborative effort. The show has been crafted by best-of-breed cinematographers, writers, CGI and grading artists, stop motion animators, producers, sound engineers and a world-class direction team. We researched for over a year, shot across three continents and edited it for months in 4K RAW to construct dreamscapes. Mega Icons is a one of a kind techno-creative, factual drama based on the lives of five global icons. It attempts to find out what really goes into the making of a genius,” said Paramangsu Mukherjee, Head, Content Studio, PFT & Series Director, Mega Icons. “We hope the show goes a long way in inspiring today’s younger generations to chase their dreams and make the nation proud.”
Bhaskar Sitholey, Vice President, Creative Services, PFT added, “National Geographic’s highly scientific approach to Mega Icons was right in sync with PFT’s methodology of leveraging data driven narratives to create compelling content. While producing the series, our endeavor was to marry innovative storytelling with robust research and remarkable production value. We are confident that the show will engage viewers and resonate with them at a deep, fulfilling level.”
