Canadian music service Stingray is partnering with German cable/Fttx umbrella marketing organisation Deutsche Netzmarketing (DNMG) to provide three native 4K speciality TV channels, Stingray Festival 4K, Stingray Hits 4K, and Stingray Ambiance 4K to its network operators in Germany.

DNMG is the first partner in the German-speaking area to introduce Stingray’s 4K UHD portfolio to its network operators. The partnership will provide network operators a significant edge that will appeal to subscribers who crave the pristine quality of 4K viewing. DNMG has more than 200 member operators.

Stingray’s 4K channels offer subscribers a wide selection of entertainment, including concerts, theatre performances, electrifying DJ sets, and ballet and opera with Stingray Festival 4K; music videos from today’s biggest stars with Stingray Hits 4K; and beautiful natural imagery set to pristine nature sounds and tailor-made soundtracks with Stingray Ambiance 4K.

The channels will be available on the playout server in the EQUINIX FR5 data centre in Frankfurt/Main.

“There are currently more than ten million 4K televisions on the market, with seven million additional sets added per year. The partnership includes both free TV and pay rights for all channels, giving network operators unprecedented flexibility to deliver the highest 4K quality to their customers,” said Ingo P. Schuchert, MD/DNMG. “In order to make this USP possible, DNMG is investing for the first time in its own systems and infrastructure, thus creating the basis for future 4K business models for our network operators.”

“We are thrilled to embark on this agreement with DNMG, especially as it marks the first entry of the Stingray 4K TV channels in the German-speaking market,” added Mathieu Peloquin, SVP/Marketing and Content of Stingray. “The fast pace of technological innovation continues to provide new avenues for growth and partnerships, and Stingray is proud to be a front-runner in providing new entertainment opportunities for music-lovers worldwide.”
