Cairo-based Nilesat reported a 15.6 per cent fall in profits for the year to September 30th. Net profit for the year was $35.04 million (down from $41.53 million in the previous year).
Nilesat is reviewing its next move as far as a new satellite (Nilesat 301) is concerned. Nilesat works closely with Eutelsat and operates from the 7 degrees West orbital location.
Eutelsat operates from the adjacent 8 degrees West position.
Trade newsletter Space Intel Report suggests that Thales Alenia Space has pitched to build the new Nilesat satellite (as have other satellite builders).
