December 3, 2019

BritBox, the SVoD service created by the BBC and ITV, has begun a month of Christmas celebrations, featuring a collection over 100 Christmas TV specials from years past on the site. A different special will be highlighted daily in the run up to Christmas Day in a nostalgic digital advent.

Highlights from the Britmas collection include sixteen Christmas specials from Only Fools and Horses, all four Downton Abbey Christmas specials, and festive episodes from Extras, Blackadder, The Good Life, French and Saunders, Outnumbered, Jonathan Creek, Birds of a Feather, Mock the Week, Keeping Up Appearances and many more.

BritBox’s ‘Very Christie Christmas’ will also launch in mid December highlighting over 100 episodes of Agatha Christie classics including seasons one and two of the BBC’s original Miss Marple series starring Joan Hickson, all six seasons of Christie’s Miss Marple starring Geraldine McEwan and Julia McKenzie, and David Suchet’s Being Poirot documentary. Further factual content includes Harry Potter: A History of Magic and Sandringham: The Queen at Christmas.

Classic British family films Oliver Twist (1948), Pollyanna (2002), Tarka the Otter and Bugsy Malone put the finishing touches to the collection.

Reemah Sakaan, Group Director ITV SVOD, commented:  “The Christmas special is a unique trait of British TV and we are delighted that our new streaming service opens up this treasure trove of laughs, dramas, beloved characters and stories. We hope that everyone will enjoy exploring our massive collection of Christmas Crackers and more.”
