Quibi, the mobile platform for short-form content, will go live in the US on April 6th.
The service will launch with 50 titles at a cost of $4.99 (€4.36) per month with ads, or $7.99 per month without. There will also be a 90 day free trial for those who register prior to launch,
Quibi, helmed by Hollywood executive Jeffrey Katzenberg and former eBay CEO Meg Whitman, will exclusively offer short videos between 7 and 10 minutes in length, including “movies in chapters”, unscripted shows, documentaries and daily bulletins of news and entertainment.
Quibi says it will release some 8,500 episodes across 175 shows in its first year.
Last week the platform announced $750 million in second round funding.
