Skyline Communications, a global player in end-to-end multi-vendor network management, OSS and orchestration software solutions for the ICT, media and broadband industry, has announced that Astro (Measat Broadcast Network Systems Sdn Bhd), Malaysia’s leading content and entertainment company, has selected Skyline’s award-winning DataMiner solution for the management of incoming feeds on all layers including content, infrastructure and business.

Astro serves 5.7 million homes or 74% of Malaysian TV households, 8,300 enterprises, 17 million weekly radio listeners (FM and digital), 14 million digital monthly unique visitors (“MUV”) and 2.8 million shoppers across its TV, radio, digital and commerce platforms. Astro’s pay-TV service is available in Malaysia and Brunei.

The agreement includes configuration and delivery of the AI-powered state-of-the-art DataMiner Monitoring and Control system, managing the linear feed acquisition process, along with Skyline’s flagship Service and Resource Management (SRM) orchestration module, to support flexible workflow-based ad-hoc feed acquisition booking processes, which are to be scheduled both via manual user input and automatically through schedules extracted from Astro’s MAM platform.

“We are looking forward to the cooperation with Skyline,” says Nivendran Veerappan, Head of Broadcast Technology at Astro. “The company as well as the product aligns with our short- and long-term goals here at Astro. It is a solid, though flexible product, and our cooperation with Skyline allows us to build exactly what we need, with agility, further empowering our digital transformation process.”

“Enabling our customers to have a future-proof, reliable, flexible, agile and self-operable management platform has always been a key focus for us at Skyline,” commented Naveendran Murthy, Skyline Sales Manager, APAC. “With this project we will be delivering a powerful base system, scalable towards all other NMS/OSS and orchestration needs of Astro across any domain and technology, which includes a plethora of new-age cloud-connected functionalities.”
