Gilat offers SkyEdge IV

Israel-based Gilat Satellite Networks has launched its SkyEdge IV improved communications product and service.
Described by the company as a ground-system for satellite communications and designed to lead the revolution in the software defined satellite (SDS) industry, where multi-orbit constellations and very high throughput satellites (VHTS) are meeting the demand for ubiquitous connectivity, answering the promise of the Cloud, 5G, and IoT.
“At Gilat we refer to this new revolutionary era, as the Elastix Era of satellite communication. As such, SkyEdge IV is designed with an innovative new Elastix-Architecture and Elastix-TotalNMS, to ensure that ground and space will work in harmony,” said a Gilat statement.
The company addsedthat “SkyEdge IV will transform Gilat to become a software-centric company with superior operational efficiencies. With SkyEdge IV we aim to capture the leading position of the VHTS market. SkyEdge IV provides VSAT backward compatibility to preserve SkyEdge II-c customer investment.”
