ADB strengthens cooperation with MediaTek

February 8, 2022

ADB, aprovider of advanced systems for pay-TV and telco operators, has again selected MediaTek as a chipset provider for its new hybrid DVB / IPTV and OTT set-top box (STB) platforms. The ADB devices, designed for pay-TV operators, will be equipped with the high performance MT5751A (K8) SoC from MediaTek, a specialist in developing innovative systems-on-chip solutions for home entertainment. MediaTek is also a major player in the Android world and with this platform choice, ADB is preparing an ambitious Android TV roadmap for customers. The new series of ADB STBs provides outstanding performance for the delivery of live, OTT, and on-demand content in 4K Ultra HD resolution and with high dynamic range (HDR) support. The STBs are equipped with the latest Wi-Fi 6 module (802.11ax) for receiving high-quality video streams over ultra-fast wireless home networks. These new platforms integrate ADB’s latest graphyne software with all essential pay-TV features including access to the leading SVoD streaming services – all delivered in a customizable graphyne multiscreen UX. The software is part of the overall graphyne pay-TV management system that ADB offers to operators as a complete solution or individual and flexible backend components that enrich existing Pay-TV platforms. As stated by Krzysztof Biliński, CTO at ADB, “We’re very happy that our cooperation with MediaTek evolved so well. It was critical for us to select the right SoC provider, as it is extremely important with the pandemic and component shortages to build future-proof solutions and keep the time-to-market for our customers short. We are very proud that our expertise in hardware design and software integration has once again been recognized by European Tier-1 operators who will receive deliveries of ADB’s MediaTek-based STBs in 2022.”
