Vecima Networks is back at ANGA COM
May 6, 2022
Vecima Networks Inc. (TSX: VCM) will showcase industry leadership at ANGA COM 2022 with technology demonstrations and panel presentations highlighting DOCSIS 4.0, Remote MACPHY, 10G PON, and low latency HLS video.
Technologies to be on display and demonstrated
Vecima will show innovative Remote MACPHY modules and node platforms for Cable Access networks, along with next-generation 10G-capable OLTs (Optical Line Terminals) for Fiber Access providers. Vecima’s MACPHY and Remote OLT solutions were recently recognized by Dell’Oro Group as the market share leader in two of their access network segments.
Vecima will showcase DOCSIS 4.0 based on demonstrations originally conducted in January 2022 with Charter Communications and more recently at the “CableLabs 10G Showcase: Experience the Transformation” event in Denver, Colorado. The CableLabs 10G Showcase demonstrated greater than 8.9 Gbps downstream 6.2 Gbps upstream with 1.8 GHz CableLabs DOCSIS 4.0 Frequency Division Duplexing (FDD) using next-generation DOCSIS 4.0 System-on-a-Chip (SoC) for Remote MACPHY Devices and cable modem solutions. It showed the massive capacity available through incremental upgrades to existing HFC plant.
Vecima will also highlight its MediaScaleX Streaming portfolio, featuring TruLiveTM, support for Low Latency HLS in combination with a fast data path throughout the Vecima MediaScaleX product suite from source to egress. It delivers industry-leading scale, instantaneous fast channel-change, multi-screen synchronization, and sub-3 second latency for high-throughput IP services.
A member of the Streaming Video Alliance, Vecima demonstrated that its MediaScaleX Open Caching Node could be provisioned via the Open Caching APIs and successfully deliver and cache video content on behalf of the provisioning upstream provider’s content delivery network (CDN). Such content delegation frees the upstream content provider of expensive delivery fees and provides the end user with an improved viewing experience without the headache of rebuffering and poor video quality.
Vecima speakers at ANGA COM
Colin Howlett, Chief Technology Officer at Vecima, will participate in a panel on May 10 at 16:45 in Room 2 on “Key developments in the DOCSIS 4.0 world” where he will expand on the benefits of DOCSIS 4.0, spectrum migration options, and showcase results from the industry’s first multi-vendor demonstration of DOCSIS 4.0 FDD in a realistic amplifier cascade typical of existing deployed networks.
“As operators from across the region evaluate their networks and supporting technologies, we partner with them to not only deliver solutions that will meet their current needs, but plan for future applications and expansion to bring their customers the best services available,” said John Ruwe, Regional Vice President of EMEA Sales at Vecima. “Vecima continues to increase our footprint in the European market, and we look forward to showcasing our technology leadership at ANGA COM.”
“Vecima continues in our mission to help operators evolve their networks by delivering innovative and broad-based cable and fiber solutions,” said Clay McCreery, Chief Operating Officer at Vecima. “The HFC plant remains a huge asset for cable operators, and our recent demonstrations validate the real-world performance and viability of DOCSIS 4.0 and the inherent multi-gig symmetrical capacity of the cable plant. Vecima is proud to play such an integral role in powering the world’s movement to the limitless broadband connectivity of the future, and we’re excited to be in person again at ANGA COM.”
