Viaccess-Orca (VO), a provider of data-driven, end-to-end solutions for the delivery, security, and monetization of advanced TV and video content services, has announced that Vietnamese video service provider FPT Play is using a Widevine conditional access system (CAS) solution powered by VO for IPTV streams in its latest set-top box (STB) model “FPT Play 650.” As a fully cloud-based, end-to-end integrated system for large-scale Android TV hybrid OTT/IPTV deployments, VO’s Widevine CAS solution speeds up the time to market for new television offerings and ensures premium viewing experiences.
“As a leading service provider in Vietnam, we serve millions of customers, and their satisfaction is our top priority,” said Le Trong Duc, CTO at FPT Play. “Viaccess-Orca’s extensive content protection expertise and tight collaboration with Widevine and Android TV teams enables us to deliver next-generation video experiences on Android TV set-top boxes. With VO’s solution, we can satisfy the consumer demand for high-quality streaming in the living room while meeting content protection requirements.”
Activated in the launcher of Android TV STBs, the solution ensures content protection with rights and device management capabilities that allow FPT Play to authenticate devices and fully control IPTV channel access. As a cloud-based solution, the Widevine CAS powered by VO accelerates the launch of new IPTV services. Additionally, VO’s solution enables fast zapping, empowering FPT Play to deliver an outstanding-quality service and ensure maximum subscriber satisfaction.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with Viaccess-Orca on this deployment and showcase the benefits of using our world-class Widevine CAS integrated with VO’s security know-how and holistic security services,” said Brian Baker, Director of Product Management at Widevine. “Secure streaming is crucial today, and with our solution FPT can have the peace of mind that their content is protected.”
The Widevine CAS powered by VO is part of a holistic suite of security services. With VO’s Anti-Piracy Center, FPT Play can protect against restreaming of high-value content using multiple tactics including breach detection and password sharing control. VO’s dynamic watermarking technology offers seamless integration on Android TV STBs, allowing FPT Play to identify the source of piracy and take it down within seconds.
“We’re excited to continue growing our customer footprint in the APAC region,” said Philippe Léonetti, CEO at Viaccess-Orca. “When service providers are launching an Android TV STB, offering a fast time to market is critical. With the flexibility of VO security services and the robustness of market-leading Widevine, FPT has set a foundation for IPTV success.”
