Tour de Rugby – a new documentary series celebrating French culture and passion for rugby, starring Oscar-winning Kiwi filmmaker Taika Waititi – premieres today [September 5th) exclusively on the new NZR+ streaming platform.

The six-part short-format series features Waititi, renowned as a passionate rugby fan, embark on a journey across the captivating landscapes of France, on the eve of the 2023 Rugby World Cup, which kicks off in Paris on September 9h when the All Blacks take on the host nation in the opening match.

Waititi, who won an Academy Award for Jojo Rabbit and is known for making Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok, embarks on an entertaining journey with an eclectic ensemble of esteemed guests – including Michelin-starred chef Mauro Colagreco and rugby legends Jerome Kaino, Andrew Mehrtens and Sébastien Chabal – as they delve into the tapestry of France’s cultural opulence and historical legacy.

Commenting on the documentary, Waititi said: “Join me as I discover a little bit more about French culture. We are doing food, we are doing art, but more importantly we’re going to explore their relationship with the game we love: rugby.”

Tour de Rugby episodes will be released every Tuesday exclusively on NZR+, the new digital streaming platform launched by New Zealand Rugby (NZR) to inspire and connect All Blacks and rugby fans across the world.
