A report from Persistence Market Research says that the demand for in-flight broadband and related connected services is expected to grow by a CAGR of some 14.1 per cent, and is forecast to reach a value of $32.75 billion (€30.5bn) by 2033.

The research says that in-flight services market was estimated to have a market valuation last year of $7.79 billion.

The growth of the market is being driven by the increasing demand for high-speed internet connectivity on airplanes, the rising number of passengers using in-flight Wi-Fi services, and the growing adoption of satellite-based in-flight Wi-Fi technology. The Global In-Flight Wi-Fi Services Market is experiencing significant growth driven by increasing passenger demand for connectivity, the proliferation of smart devices, and the airline industry’s commitment to enhancing the passenger experience.

The report stresses that airlines view in-flight Wi-Fi as a differentiator, attracting passengers and enhancing overall satisfaction. Airlines are thus investing in upgrading their fleets with Wi-Fi technology to meet passenger expectations and gain a competitive edge.
