Rebel Moon at Netflix #1

For the second week in a row, Zack Snyder’s science-fiction fantasy Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire has placed atop Netflix’s English Films List and was the most watched title of the week commencing December 25th with 34 million views.

Netflix viewers were in a Julia Roberts mood during the week with apocalyptic thriller Leave the World Behind at #2 (14.6 million views) and classic romantic comedy Pretty Woman at #3 (8.4 million views). Family films were popular once again during the holiday period as Aardman’s handcrafted stop motion Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget came in at #4 (8.2 million views), The Super Mario Bros Movie (not available in the UK) claimed #5 (7.4 million views) and Adam Sandler’s animated comedy Leo spent its sixth week on the list at #6 (6.7 million views). Elsewhere on the list, Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick (not available in the UK) debuted at #7 (6.2 million views).

Viewers embraced the start of a new heist as Berlin (Spain) took the top spot on the Non-English TV List in its debut week with 11.3 million views. The new series is a spin-off of Money Heist, also known as La Casa de Papel, one of Netflix’s most popular series ever. New romantic comedy The Manny (Mexico) opened at #2 (8.2 million views) while Pókemon Concierge (Japan) debuted at #6 (2.6 million views). The live-action manga adaptation Yu Yu Hakusho (Japan) stayed strong at #5 (2.6 million views).

Stand-up specials had a strong showing this week over on the English TV List. Ricky Gervais: Armageddon debuted at #1 with 8 million views, Dave Chappelle: The Dreamer opened at #5 one day after its premiere (2.2 million views) and Trevor Noah: Where Was I landed at #8 (1.7 million views). Teen romance drama My Life with the Walter Boys spent its fourth week on the list at #2 (5.4 million views), while the sixth and final season of The Crown held its reign at #3 (3.6 million views).

The new fantasy film A Vampire in the Family (Brazil) debuted atop the Non-English Films List with 7.6 million views. True-crime documentary Curry & Cyanide – The Jolly Joseph Case (India) climbed its way to #2 (6.5 million views). Other new films on the list included the comedy Thank You, I’m Sorry (Sweden) at #3 (2.9 million views) and drama Kho Gaye Hum Kahan (India) at #4 (2.8 million views).
