WWE returns to Australia this February, for its highly-anticipated Premium Live Event (PLE), Elimination Chamber: Perth.
The spectacle will emanate from the Optus Stadium in Perth, Western Australia on February 24th. It marks WWE’s first PLE in Australia since 2018, and will be the only PLE in the Asia-Pacific region in 2024.
For the first time in WWE history, UK fans can tune into a major PLE live on a Saturday morning as the event will begin at 10am (GMT).
What is WWE’s Elimination Chamber?
WWE Elimination Chamber is an annual PLE that plays host to several epic matches which all take place in a large chain-linked steel structure surrounding the ring. Paul ‘HHH’ Levesque created the concept in 2002, and in 2010 Elimination Chamber became a PLE in its own right.
How many Elimination Chambers have there been?
There have been 32 matches in WWE history that have included the Elimination Chamber structure. The 2023 edition of WWE Elimination Chamber that took place in the Bell Centre in Montreal broke multiple WWE company records. The event has grown exponentially in popularity, with the viewership of the 2023 event increasing by 54 per cent from the 2022 iteration, as well as setting new records for event attendance, merchandise and sponsorship.
How is the Elimination Chamber built?
The Elimination Chamber structure takes a 50 foot flatbed truck to transport, and several hours of construction to be suspended over the ring in the centre of the stadium. The chamber itself is made of black-painted steel with 16 frames, each weighing 300 pounds. At 16 ft (4.9 m) high and 36 ft (11 m) in diameter with a total weight of 16 short tons (15,000 kg), eight motors are needed to suspend the massive structure over the ring for each event.
What are the Rules of the Elimination Chamber?
In the Elimination Chamber Match, six Superstars will enter the foreboding structure — which is composed of two miles of chain and 10 tons of unforgiving steel — but only one can emerge victorious.
In the beginning, two Superstars are stationed in the middle of the cage, kicking off the match while the remaining four are enclosed in glass pods. After a regularly scheduled period of time, a pod will open at random, enabling a Superstar to enter the match. This will continue until all the competitors have been released.
A Superstar is eliminated via pinfall or submission only, with the last one standing being the winner.
Which Superstars will be at Elimination Chamber: Perth?
The Superstars currently advertised for Elimination Chamber: Perth include Logan Paul, Rhea Ripley, Grayson Waller, LA Knight and Bianca Belair with many more to be announced.
