From David Del Valle in Madrid

Vodafone and the Spain’s fourth largest telco MasMovil have reached an agreement to share FTTH networks covering some 1.9 million households in the country.

With the deal Vodafone will add up to 1 million FTTH homes and will gain access to 100,000 homes currently not covered by its own network and shared infrastructure.

As of June 30th, Vodafone reached 20.9 million homes with FTTH, out of which 10.3 million were through its own network or shared with the Orange network, and the rest vía Telefónica’s network.

Meanwhile, Masmovil will now add 942,000 homes to reach a total of 5.4 million FTTH homes. To June the company had passed 13 million homes, mainly due to its deal with Orange.
