DirecTV raises $4bn in debt

US satellite TV giant DirecTV is raising $3.97 billion in fresh debt. The terms on some of the debt extend out as far as 2042. DirecTV says it will use some of the proceeds to buy back its own stock, and for the usual catch-all: “general corporate purposes”.
