InnoWave, Portuguese IT Company, just announced that it has joined the Reference Design Kit (RDK) community.
The Reference Design Kit (RDK) is a pre-integrated software bundle that provides a common framework for powering customer-premises equipment (CPE) from TV service providers, including set-top boxes, gateways, and converged devices. The RDK is supported by more than 150 licensees including CE manufacturers, SOCs vendors, software developers, system integrators, and TV service providers. It is administered by the RDK Management LLC, a joint venture between Comcast Cable, Time Warner Cable, and Liberty Global. It enables TV service providers to standardize certain elements of these devices, but also to easily customize the applications and user experiences that ride on top.
Now a member of the RDK community, InnoWave has licensed the Reference Design Kit (RDK) in order to bring InnoWave’s TV solutions to operators seeking to use the RDK software stack.
“InnoWave and the RDK community share the same philosophy. Joining the RDK was a natural step for us,” highlights Pedro Pinto, Chief Technology Officer of InnoWave Technologies. “InnoWave is a reference in the creation and development of interactive TV solutions. We are already focused on creating solutions that will fit the global RDK opportunity.”
“We are very pleased to welcome InnoWave Technologies as a licensee of the RDK, further demonstrating its global reach and applicability,” said Jason Briggs, Senior Director, RDK Management, LLC. “Together, the RDK community is working to help accelerate the development and deployment of next-generation video services and devices for pay TV operators around the world.”
