December 21, 2015

Sony Pictures Television’s (SPT) Film1 channel in the Netherlands has agreed new long term deals with Disney / Marvel and leading independent distributor, Belga Films.

Less than six months after acquiring Holland’s leading premium movie service, SPT Networks has moved to boost the programming power of its five linear channels and on demand service with new content additions including Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Disney’s Maleficent as well as key titles like Paddington and the latest edition of The Hunger Games franchise from Belga Films.

The long term deals include linear viewing for Film1’s five thematic HD channels as well as TV Everywhere rights, so Film1 subscribers can watch the new additions to the line-up on TV, laptop, tablet and mobile

SPT’s Executive Vice President Western Europe, Kate Marsh, said, “The introduction of the Disney – Marvel’s titles and the renewal of our longstanding First Pay agreement with Belga Films underlines Film1’s position as the first choice for movies in the market, offering more of the latest box office hits than any other service, direct to the screen of your choice.”
