Virgin unveils TiVo taster

November 29, 2010

The first images of Virgin Media’s new TiVo service have been released, showcasing a simple user interface for users to find their favourite programmes

TiVo, the US DVR pioneer, is set to “revolutionise the way customers watch on-demand and pay-TV programmes,” promised Virgin Media when it first announced plans to offer the service.

The new TiVo box, which will be launched before the end of the year, will be both HD and 3D ready and will come with 1TB of storage, letting Virgin Media customers store up to 500 hours of content.

Cindy Rose, executive director of digital entertainment at Virgin Media, said: “Virgin Media’s next generation connected TV service – powered by TiVo – and combined with our superior broadband, will blow other ‘connected TV’ products out of the water… The service will appeal to anyone and everyone looking for the best of live broadcast TV, catch-up, on-demand and Internet apps and services.”

Virgin Media has yet to release any information on the pricing of the product.
