ONO TiVo in September, Virgin has 50,000 orders

Spain’s ONO has told Cable Congress it will launch its TiVo STP in September and admits it has a marketing mountain to climb as TiVo is an unknown brand in Spain.
Meanwhile, alongside its results Virgin has revealed it has 50,000 reservations for its TiVo powered box. TiVo users must pay £199 (€236) for the broadband-enabled TV box and an extra £3 per month on top of the most costly, XL TV package.
Neil Berkett, Virgin CEO, thinks TiVo could help tick Virgin’s “mobile” box. “In the second half of the year, we’ll start running TiVo applications on remote devices… There is a (TiVo) iPad app available today which we will launch in the second half of the year.”
The TiVo can host third party services’ apps and Berkett says he wants “no walled gardens”. “We have no fears about bringing a Blockbuster or a Lovefilm in to Virgin.”
