Telenor has issued its second quarter results July 21, stating that its Broadcast Division saw revenues grow from NOK1.734 billion (€0.22bn) in the same period last year to 1.791 billion. Operating profits grew by NOK42 million to NOK268 million. Telenor’s Broadcast Division includes the Canal Digital DTH operation, Conax encryption, Norkring transmission arm, C More pay-TV and Telenor Satellite Broadcasting segments.

Canal Digital’s DTH subs fell back by 8,000, while cable TV subs fell back 4,000. Telenor says its EBITDA margins for DTH grew 3 per cent as “reduced transmission costs were partly offset by increased hardware-related costs and increased other operating costs”.

Revenues at its Satellite Broadcasting division fell back (year-on-year) from NOK275 million to NOK243 million, while operating profits also declined from NOK122 million to NOK95 million.

“Revenues and EBITDA in Satellite Broadcasting decreased as higher revenues from the CEE region was more than offset by reduced revenues from the Nordic region,” said the statement.
