SeaChange licenses APRICO recommendation

SeaChange International announced that it has agreed to license APRICO content recommendation source code and other intellectual property rights from Royal Philips Electronics. This agreement allows SeaChange to tightly integrate state-of-the-art personalised, content-aware and collaborative recommendation functionality into its Adrenalin multi-screen video back office platform. With recommendation functionality built-in, Adrenalin will enable video service providers to improve their buy rates and hence increase revenue per user.
“Viewers today are confronted with hundreds of channels, thousands of on-demand movies and countless videos available through their TVs, PCs and mobile devices. Finding interesting content has become a real issue, with digital TV subscribers often spending at least 25 per cent of their viewing time browsing content catalogues or hopping channels,” said SeaChange Software President Erwin van Dommelen. “For service providers, helping subscribers find content they will enjoy is key to retaining viewers and maximising revenues.”
