BinWeevils appoints Henwood as new CEO

BinWeevils, the digital social world for kids 6 to 12, has appointed Rod Henwood as its new CEO with immediate effect.

Henwood is an existing board director of BinWeevils, having invested in the company in 2009. He takes over as CEO from fellow investor, Richard Watney, who will continue to be involved in the business alongside a range of other entrepreneurial interests.

Henwood is a leading media and entertainment industry executive, whose roll call of achievements includes being the launch CEO of Pottermore, the digital venture for the global Harry Potter phenomenon (from 2010 to 2011), and New Business Director at Channel 4, where he launched the popular 4oD service (from 2005-2008).

Henwood was also CEO of Premium TV, now Perform Group, the listed digital sports content business, where he turned around the business prior to its sale to Access Industries (from 2003-2005).

His kids content credentials also includes three years as Managing Director for Fox Kids UK.

With a sterling career background in both the digital and kids sector, Rod is well poised to lead to its next phase of success, building on highlights which have included it becoming the UK’s number one digital social world (Comscore, H2 2012) and winning the BAFTA Kids Vote for ‘Best Website’ for two consecutive years (2011 and 2012). has over 2 million active monthly unique users and Rod will seek to capitalise on this success by leading onto new platforms and into new markets.

BinWeevils was co-founded by Amelia Johnson and Myke Crosby. It remains the leading privately funded company in its sector, with a board comprising the co-founders (Amelia Johnson and Myke Crosby) and its investors (Rod Henwood, Richard Watney, and Miles Johnson).
