Civolution, a provider of technology and solutions for identifying, managing and monetising content, has announced that Axonista, the Irish TV app developer, has selected Civolution’s SyncNow ACR technology for integration with its Ediflo platform. This enables broadcasters to boost viewer engagement through 2nd screen apps built by Axonista.
“Our platform provides a suite of tools for augmenting traditional TV and ad spots”, said Claire McHugh, CEO, Axonista. “Our partnership with Civolution provides us with an advanced synchronisation solution that empowers us to create compelling real-time companion device experiences whether the viewer is watching linear, time-shifted or on-demand content. We are looking forward to exciting deployments soon.”
Axonista’s Ediflo platform enables broadcasters such as ESPN, MTV, SPI, Setanta Sports and TV3 to create and launch their own-branded second screen apps which function across mobile (iOS, Android, Windows), web, Roku and Xbox platforms. The collaboration with Civolution’s unique audio watermarking technology brings ACR-synchronization to Ediflo, so that Axonista’s companion apps are perfectly in sync with the content being viewed on the TV.
“Synchronisation is increasingly important for 2nd screen apps. Whether it’s sporting action, trivia or specific information about the program or actors, real-time sync is a powerful drive into the action,” said Alex Terpstra, CEO, Civolution. “By providing accurate synchronization with content, our SyncNow ACR technology enhances consumer interaction and engagement. We are pleased to be innovating with Axonista, enabling its broadcaster clients to achieve a monetizable edge in the ever-evolving connected and social TV space,” concluded Terpstra.
